Digital Radio (DAB) has revolutionized radio listening in the home; now in-car systems are available as tuner and aerial technology has leaped forward in the last two years and the constantly changing infrastructure improves with more and better transmitters.

Hundreds of radio stations are now broadcasting digitally across the UK. When it comes to coverage, there’s a network of transmitters across the country providing coverage for most motorways and major routes, so you can be confident that DAB stations will be available for almost your entire journey.

In car digital radio is becoming just as important as having Aux or iPod connectivity. There are a lot of advantages to DAB, mainly much greater choice of stations and sound quality similar to CD (signal providing). Visit www.getdigitalradio.co.uk for more information.

Replacement Stereos / Bluetooth iPod integration

The choice of replacement stereos with built in digital radio has grown over the last few months. And include features such as USB/iPod connectivity Hands free Bluetooth and even navigation while still retaining traditional FM/AM Tuner.

Factory Stereo (O.E.) Integration

We now have high quality digital units to add to factory fitted stereo or navigation systems which are controlled from existing steering wheel controls or a remote and they are able to display the station name on the O.E. system’s screen.

Add On Solutions

Add on units are also available from Pure and Acoustic solutions, among others, which tend to stick on the windscreen in a similar way to portable navigation systems. The audio is normally fed into the stereo via an aux input or the original radio tuner. Installation of these systems is straightforward and does not affect the car. They also have the potential to be fitted to another vehicle, should you change.

Aerials

Aerial placement has to be given some thought, as strong signal is required at all times for the best performance. Most systems are supplied with a stick on glass aerial, which goes across the top of the internal windscreen, although we normally recommend either an externally mounted DAB antennae which can be combined with the FM aerial, or an on glass aerial with an external mast. Some cars with a metal antenna mast can utilize a splitting device that goes into the aerial lead and takes the DAB signal from the original antennae.

These options all depend on the car and the current system, which is originally installed in the vehicle.
